I made my Broadway debut in the Original Cast of the Tony Award-winning Kander and Ebb musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Harold Prince. Later, I became the only actor in Broadway history to star as both Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert in LES MISERABLES. I also created the role of Reverend Gonzalez opposite Marc Anthony and Ruben Blades in the Original Cast of Paul Simon’s THE CAPEMAN. I received the 2019 Connecticut Critics Circle Award for my portrayal of Cervantes/Quixote in MAN OF LA MANCHA (one of my favorites) and performed roles from Shakespeare to Neil Simon throughout the U.S, Europe and in London’s West End.
Television appearances include guest star roles on BULL (CBS), BLUE BLOODS (CBS) and THE BLACKLIST (NBC) and recurring roles on HULU’s THE PATH and GOTHAM (FOX). I also played opposite Edie Falco and Tony Shalhoub on NURSE JACKIE, Debra Messing on MYSTERIES OF LAURA, Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu on ELEMENTARY and Dylan McDermott on HOSTAGES. Other television roles include DAMAGES, PERSON OF INTEREST, LAW & ORDER, LAW & ORDER SVU UGLY BETTY and others.
On the concert stage I sang with the NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC under the batons of Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw and Zubin Mehta and with Symphony orchestras throughout the United States.
I also recorded a very cool Latin-Jazz CD called THE BEAT OF MY HEART that Jazz Review called “A gift from the heart from one of America’s great voices.”
In 2023 I fell in love with narrating audiobooks. My first book was selected as an Audie Award Finalist and, in 2024, I received another Audie nod and an Earphones Award win! I’ve narrated 16 books to date and look forward to many, many more. You can find out more about my work as an audiobook narrator here.
